Cultivating Community

At Schools

Our dedication to community involvement starts with education. Not only are we serving Vertical Roots lettuce on campuses, but we’re providing opportunities for students to gain hands on experience. We’re proud to be involved in teaching and serving our youth with our partners in education.

On the Menu

We speak to both culinary creativity and eco-conscious sourcing. Our distinctly flavorful varietals lend themselves to versatile dishes and are delivered just one day after harvest, maximizing quality and eliminating the environmental impacts of cross-country distribution. Taste the planet’s best  lettuce.

Through Donations

Each week, we deliver our produce to community partners free of charge to combat hunger and provide vitamin-rich produce to people in need. In addition, we partner with farmers to put damaged produce to use as sustainably sourced feed or compost material.

In-store Sampling & Events

We’re continually out and about in the community to raise awareness around our products, our growing methods, and our mission. You can catch us sharing samples of the planet’s best lettuce in your neighborhood grocery store or at the next big event around town. Follow us on social media to see where we’re off to next!

Investing in People and the Environment

Commitments to Our Communities

Our roots run deep. We use sustainable farming to sustain local communities, because we recognize that a better future for a food system means a better future – and more delicious food! – for us all. We express our deep commitments to people and the planet through ongoing engagement, volunteering, and education across a variety of programs.

Aligning with our company goals, we continually give back to the earth and lower our carbon footprint.

We are working to provide our communuity with opportunities to work with and learn more about bees.

Our kitchen is stocked with ceramic plates, silverware, glassware, reusable straws and bags.

Aiding non-profit organizations, such as Surfrider Foundation, to protect our waterways, beaches, and coastal economy.

We offer tours in our Community Farm to demonstrate our growing methods and technology. All proceeds are donated to charity.

We’re staying involved with other companies that align with our beliefs and mission. We can’t get there alone.

We believe education is a key factor to evoking change within our communities. From events, to social media, to friendly neighbor conversations, we’re open to sharing what we know and why it matters.

We can’t help our communities if we’re not connected. We’re proud members of: SC Farm BureauSC Dept. of Agriculture, Carolina Farm Stewardship Assoc., Lowcountry Local First, and SC Chamber of Commerce, just to name a few.
